Powerful Article Marketing Tips

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

If you have submitted your articles to EzineArticles.com you have made a wise choice. Out of all the ezines that I am aware of, this particular one is the most active and well maintained site. No doubt featuring your articles here will get you noticed. You can ratchet everything up a notch by taking some additional steps to promote your good works.

Most of the articles that I have penned have been viewed at least 100 times each. One of my articles, 99 High Paying Keywords: The Secret is Out!, is about to surpass 1000 page views. I cannot even begin to tell you how much the nearly 80 articles posted by me have helped me get the attention I need in order to adequately market my product: me! Without posting to this site, a lot of my newer contacts would remain unknown to me. In retrospect, I would consider that to be a tremendous loss!

Beyond placing articles here, the following steps have helped me tremendously. They can help you too!

1. Send URLs for select articles to those who might find them interesting. For example, a review I wrote on a local railroad museum was forwarded by me with a note to five members of the museum’s board. I received back the nicest response from one member who thanked me for bringing attention to their organization. You can generate goodwill — and additional business — by sharing favorable articles directly with those whom you write about.

2. Discuss the article on related forums. Christopher Knight personally gave me a “big thumbs up” over my “99 High Paying Keywords” article and that gesture alone has brought me some very good attention. However, when I shared links to the article on a pair of SEO sites, the page views took off. Consider joining forums or sharing on existing forums you are a member of your expertise. If you post, they will click!

3. Link back to EzineArticles.com. Whether you have a website or include it within your signature, you can promote EzineArticles.com by making mention of their service to you. Several people have known that I was a writer; I received “added prestige” when they saw that I was published and syndicated through Christopher Knight’s site.

4. Contact publishers directly. If someone is publishing your articles, alert them the next time an article is published by EzineArticles.com. Everyone likes fresh material and the publisher will like the custom service you provide by your direct contact.

All in all, the more you publish the more your name will “get out there” as an expert in your chosen field[s]. You can take everything a step further by actively marketing your articles to the appropriate people. You will help yourself, EzineArticles.com, and other authors. So, how does “that” maxim go? Oh, yes: a rising tide lifts all boats.

The Future Of Gaming Laptops

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

There’s been no slow down in the laptop market. Taiwan, which is the capital manufacturing country of laptops is struggling with the demand at the moment. This is one trade which I don’t think will be affected with all the economic crysis that seems to be going on. The technology is advancing in all directions simultaneously as well.

There seems to be a lot more choice and availability of gaming laptops these days. If you’re a gaming enthusiast with a limited budget the great thing is that you can get a gaming notebook a lot cheaper now because the expected life is coming down. Gaming on laptops is indeed a reality now with the advancements in technology. What impressed me the most is how thin and stylish some gaming laptops are getting in comparison to the past. Sure no one is denying that there is a power gap between notebook computers and desktop pcs in relation to gaming tasks but there should always be one right? It looks as if everybody is possessed with making sleeker, lighter notebook computers and I am certain we will see gaming laptops like that in the near future.

A lager number of small manufacturers offer custom built laptops to niche segments. The benefit with a few custom laptops is that you get better third party components fitted in them. By being able to choose exactly what you require you can even save money in a couple of deals. The notebook computers seen in stores are for ordinary tasks. For the niche users, custom laptops close the gap. The great thing is that there are a large number of of companies who offer custum laptops and they provide exceptional service as well. To a few consumers this is very important.

I can’t wait to see what notebook computers are released next. One development I haven’t touched upon is the increase of cheap ultramobiles. I don’t think anyone thought they would be received that well. Buyers require laptops that are feather light but also large enough to be functional and easy to use. I am certain some brands are already laboring on such projects. Looking at the trends it looks like gaming laptops will become slimmer and faster. Despite the fact that notebooks technology follows roadmaps theres always going to be a idea that transforms all that.

It’s Spring - Time For A Compensation Program Tune Up

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Now that winter has passed, the annual ritual of spring cleaning is in full swing. Spring cleaning is more than cleaning the windows and clearing the cobwebs that hid in the corners during the winter. “Spring is a time to take a serious look at your compensation program and begin planning for the next budget cycle. Depending on your organization’s fiscal year, it may also be time to determine appropriate market adjustments and pay increases for the coming year,” said Michael Maciekowich, National Director, Astron Solutions.

Compensation program spring cleaning is more than looking at the market and determining adjustments. It is a time to step back and determine if the system remained in alignment with organizational and employee needs. Most organizations have long-term strategic plans with short-term objectives to determine progress. A compensation program designed at the beginning of a long-term strategic cycle also needs flexibility to address yearly short-term organizational objectives. As new objectives come to the forefront, or current ones are modified, the compensation plan must also change.

This is a different way of thinking about compensation programs. There are a number of tools and processes to help with this matter. One is a survey of the compensation program’s effectiveness for users, including executive management, department management, and employees. The focus of this annual survey is the following:

• What aspects of the current compensation program were most effective in the past year?

o What aspects seem to have had a positive impact on employees in terms of retention and morale?

• What aspects of the current compensation program were least effective in the past year?

o What issues did human resources seem to spend the most time discussing with employees and managers?

• What should be the focus of the compensation program in the coming year?
o What are managers’ and employees’ expectations in terms of compensation determination?
• What will prevent this from happening?

o To what extent do managers and employees understand current financial issues facing the organization?

With this understanding, human resources must answer the following five questions:

• What external market challenges or pressures will be placed on the compensation system in the coming year?

o Has the market shifted? Is there a new strategic need in the organization that will alter our market focus, either by type of job or market definition? Is the organization in a position to remain competitive?

• What internal job equity challenges or pressures will be placed on the compensation program in the coming year?

o If a job evaluation system is used, are the factors and factor weights applicable based on current strategic direction? If not, what modifications are required?

• What employee equity challenges or pressures will be placed on the compensation program in the coming year?

o Have recent market adjustments and system modifications forgotten the employees? Are we able to attract employees without causing internal pay compression?

• What financial challenges will impede the ability of the organization to successfully fund and implement needed compensation program elements?

o Can the organization sustain past financial commitments to the compensation program? If not, how will spending priorities be set?

• What changes need to be made as to how employees are recognized and rewarded for their contributions to the organization?

o Do the current recognition and reward mechanisms work to motivate employees to contribute to the organization’s strategic direction?
With these questions answered, human resource next must develop a strategic response. Take the five questions above and overlay the four question survey responses. This helps to develop a strategic response to each of the five key compensation issues.

Here are basic examples of the thought process for auditing current compensation processes:

• External Equity Issues: Most effective. Continue current process.

• Internal Equity Issues: Least effective. Additional focus on internal job placement required.

• Employee Equity Issues: Least effective. Serious compression issues developed that need further action.

• Ability to pay issues: Most effective. Required funding of the program is understood and available.

• Reward and Recognition Issues: Most effective. High level of satisfaction with current performance assessment and rewards systems.
With this information in hand, the final step is to create a focused strategic response to present to senior management. The result is a fresh look at your compensation program and a focused direction for the year ahead.

There Is No Such A Thing As Free Money

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Have you come to internet in search for goldmine? Do you believe that you will find one and you would fill your sacks till you can! Have you come riding high on the hype that internet can make you rich overnight. Do you wish to be enlisted among the riches within next 15 days or month!! Are you being tempted by the offer that promises 10 millions by end of next month…..? Are you??

Beware! You are on a road to frustration and failure.

I happen to know a lot of people who joined the net race to become rich overnight (Oops! I was among them too). We joined a number of offers which promised us that easy guaranteed money.

Exhilarated we waited for the money to arrive. It never came. It was never supposed to come as I understand now. They cursed and left. I stayed and learnt. It was time for some introspection and understanding.

We had turned to internet to escape from grinding in our daily jobs. We had not come here with an idea to work. On the contrary we had come to enjoy free lunch.

We came because we thought we could get rich within no time. We had come to take away free money. It was never to be found. We were doomed to fail.

Success by virtue of its design has no shortcut. That applies in every sphere not just business. The nature has made it that way. If a lion has to dine he has to hunt. His food would never ever pay a visit to him. He has to earn that food. If you want a shady tree in your empty courtyard, you have to plant a seed and wait while it grows with your care. One has to earn his shade if his yard is empty.

The success does not visit the idles. It demands work. It demands constant efforts. Harder the efforts better the results.

The success will never come as freebie. It demands investment. It could be in form of money, time or both. There is nothing like something for nothing.

One has to earn his money.

Yes! Internet is goldmine. It provides you immense number of opportunities to earn money. But opportunities need to be tapped. You need to dig before the mine opens up its wealth for you. One cannot escape labor on his part. If you do not intend to carry out the digging better stop now.

There are people who have toiled. There mine has opened its gold for them. There sacks are full.

There are people who are digging while their sacks lie empty near by. But they are aware if they dug their sacks would be full soon.

Finally, there are people who carry empty sacks without any intention to dig. They wake up every morning and search for ready to use goldmine. They have found none till now and would never find any. Their sacks are destined to remain empty.

Where do among these three kinds you stand?

Meal Planning: Your Ticket to Freedom

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

It’s 5:30 p.m. and you’re heading home after a long, full day. All of a sudden your mind turns to the daily question, “What’s for dinner?”

Whether it’s just you or whether you’re preparing a meal for a whole gang, it’s not an energizing prospect to imagine planning, shopping for or cooking a meal from scratch at the end of a long day.

That’s probably why the fast food businesses are booming and why our health is suffering from the effects of these “easy” foods.

If you think meal planning is an unnecessary step, or that it would create a strict regimen that you’d be trapped by, read on about how meal planning can free you from worry and improve your health and well being.

REASONS FOR MEAL PLANNING

Less time and money spent at the grocery store

When you plan your meals out a week at a time, your trips to the grocery store become much more manageable. You know exactly what you’ll need and you’ll be less susceptible to “impulse” buying. Sometimes, when I’m feeling REALLY efficient, I even write my list in order of where I’ll find it in the grocery store. Plus, buying the ingredients to cook a meal from scratch usually costs much less than the ready-made version.

Healthier meals = healthier you and your loved ones

When you’re planning ahead, you’ll have much more control over what you eat, and you can consciously choose to improve the health of your meals.

Better-timed meals

If you BEGIN planning and cooking dinner when you get home, it could be quite late before you’re sitting down to eat it. The closer to bedtime it is when you finish dinner, the less likely you’ll have time to properly digest and for your body to absorb what you’ve eaten. For breakfast and lunch, having the meals planned out can help remind you to STOP and EAT them.

Variety

When we choose our meals in the moment, based on what’s fast, easy and enjoyable, we tend to stick to a few standby’s and don’t branch out very much. Nutritionally, this leaves us lacking. We also risk getting bored with our food and looking to fast food or unhealthier options for “excitement”.

HOW TO PLAN YOUR MEALS FOR THE WEEK

1. Keep some spontaneity. You could just plan one part of the meal. For instance, if you know that you always have plenty of fresh of frozen vegetables that you can choose from, then simply plan “chicken, potatoes and vegetables”. Then you can still have some spontaneity in your meal.

2. When you have time, make “frozen dinners”. Make a double or triple recipe; package the leftovers in single (or family-size) servings and freeze.

3. Factor in schedule changes. Maybe the night after the big meeting or the night of the soccer tournament aren’t the best nights to cook a meal from scratch. Plan a quick meal, take-out or your own “frozen dinner” for those nights.

4. Aim for balance. With the week spread out before you, look for balance between heavy and light meals, vegetarian and meat-based meals, and a variety of different-coloured fruits and vegetables.

5. Plan while you’re in the kitchen. That way you can easily check for the ingredients of the dishes you’re planning. If they’re not there, add them to your grocery list immediately.

6. Keep an active grocery list through the week. That way, when staples run out you can add them to list.

7. Grow your recipe collection. Use the Internet, the cookbooks of your friends and family, magazines, etc. and find new things to try. One new recipe a week will keep things exciting!

8. Get some expert advice. Consult a trusted source such as Canada’s Food Guide, or better still get individualized meal and nutrition suggestions from a registered dietician or a holistic nutritionist.

9. Make it a team effort. If you’re feeding others as well as yourself, make the planning a team effort so that everyone gets some of their favourites through the week.

10. Always follow your plan, except when you don’t. There are going to be things that come up, days that you just don’t feel like eating what you’ve planned, or days when you’ve forgotten to do your nightly prep. Create a list of healthy stand-by’s that you can throw together with the staples in your own kitchen. If you’re on the go, be prepared by having a list of healthy choices at your favourite restaurants.

A meal plan is not a rigid “diet” or set of orders. The meal plan serves you, not the other way around.

Start now with tomorrow’s meals. What can you defrost or partly prepare tonight to make tomorrow’s meals easier and healthier?

Don’t Worry, Be Happy, Rent a Villa

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

A family vacation to “The Happiest Place on Earth” is a rewarding experience you will never forget. With so much to see and do, it has become increasingly important to a lot of visitors that they plan accordingly and reserve comfortable and spacious accommodations. If you are traveling with children, the open spaces in a vacation home or villa will translate into added silence and downtime after a long day at the parks.

We’ve all been there before. As you’re trying to unwind in a cramped hotel room, the kids become restless of their boredom and begin to jump from double-bed to double-bed in order to work off their left-over energy. If you put enough people in a cramped space, stress levels can rise rather quickly. A single television in a small hotel room is an argument waiting to happen. Vacation homes and pool villas, by comparison, usually come furnished with televisions in each room. Today, it has become easier and cheaper for the average tourist to avoid situations like these.

Vacation homes and pool villas in the Orlando area average in the $700-$900/weekly price range. Most of these homes can sleep 6+ guests as opposed to the standard 4 in a hotel room. If you were to reserve a hotel room (or two) for 6-8 guests you may need to prepare to pay upwards of $1,500 for a week’s stay. When planning a family stay in Orlando for at least a week, there really is no other way to go.

A hotel complex may have one entertaining amenity if you are lucky: a community pool. If you and your family value privacy, most vacation homes come with a personal swimming pool in the property’s backyard. This way, parents can easily supervise their children from the comfort of home. Spark up the Bar-B-Q on the back porch and have dinner ready as the kids exit the pool for the day! Many villa communities also include tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts within walking distance.

A vacation home in the Disney World Resort vicinity truly offers the best of both worlds. The convenience of staying near Disney and the opportunity to explore everything else Orlando has to offer. You may choose to venture out a few miles and do a little shopping at the Premier Outlets just off of Interstate 4, eat out at one of the many find dining destinations in the Orlando metro area, or delve into Orlando’s buzzing downtown district. Either way you decide to plan your vacation, be sure to make renting a villa or vacation home a habit wherever you travel.

How to Find the MOST Powerful VISION for your Business Plan That Will Explode Your Business Results

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Is Your Vision to Be The Biggest and Baddest on the Planet

I frequently get approached by people and companies that want me to develop a business plan. The trouble is they try to tell me what the business plan should look like. And more often than not, they just want a quick and dirty paper plan. Typically, they want something that says their vision is that they want to be The Biggest and Baddest XYZ on the Planet.”

Here Is What Is Missing

The problem with that is they’ve missed a big part of the equation. They are focused on what they want to be and not on what the customer wants, nor what the customer may think of them. It is important, VERY IMPORTANT, to understand the customer and to find the alignment between what the customer wants and what you as the business owner want. Finding that alignment will deliver “the biggest and baddest.” Just having a picture of YOU isn’t going to do that.

I know, I know. I’m hearing the roar from the peanut gallery as I say this. I hear comments like, “Well, Alan, it is there. It’s in the marketing plan.”

The point is that your vision, and what you are doing right down to the core of your business should START with the results and benefits that your customer gets from working with you, and doing that will result in you being the biggest and baddest ZYZ on the planet. It can’t just be something buried in the marketing plan, or sales plan. It has to be everything about who you are and what you deliver. It is the core of your vision, your values, and your business. If you are to become “the biggest and baddest” it can’t just exist in the marketing plan alone.

Find the Measurable Results Your Customer Gets

Whenever I work through a business plan with a client he usually has a very rough picture of who and what he is or wants to be. We start looking for a really powerful statement about the MEASURABLE RESULTS he delivers to customers and when he finally finds it, he will always go back and change who and what he is. He’ll change his vision statement….every time.

So, now I start by helping clients find what measurable benefits and results they deliver to a customer. Then you have a better idea what or who you want to be.

My original vision was that I wanted to be a successful business coach. Now I “help people and companies worldwide double, triple, and multiply their businesses in a matter of weeks. I help clients achieve “the impossible.” At least what they’ve always THOUGHT was impossible because they had never achieved it. I break down the barriers they placed between the ears and suddenly they achieve “the impossible.”

Isn’t that a more powerful vision?

Turn Your Customer’s Measurable Results Into Your Powerful Vision
If you’d like to achieve that kind of vision, start with 30 Seconds to Explosive Networking and Sales one of the other articles I wrote for EzineArticles.com. It explains how to find the MOST POWERFUL statement that you can use to define who you are. That article was originally written to find a powerful 30-second elevator speech, but it has become the core for finding a powerful vision of who you are as well.

Once you find that powerful statement, then add that to who or what you want to be through the use of that powerful statement and watch what happens to your thoughts about you, your company, and even how the customer now looks at you.

Wow! It works every time.
