Need Info on a Software Supplier for Your Online Brochure

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

Producing an electronic newsletter needs a lot of creativity, therefore you wouldn’t want to destroy all that with a low-grade digital publishing software package. When you’ve chosen to produce an online publication the essential decision is to pick out the software supplier. This isn’t about just picking a neat format for your creation - on the contrary, this choice is important as it may well mean the difference between success of failure for your venture.

Out of the characteristics you should examine closely, simple usability is the most important. If you can’t make the software run it doesn’t matter how great it is hyped to be … Before deciding on a provider for your ezine, take time to try different packages out.

Because hacking and spamming are issues online, security should be your next priority after you’ve made an online edition. Do you understand how your account has been secured? Is the content itself protected? Can people simply copy and paste the newsletter content or has the software vendor something in place peventing such things? Is your content secure?

The business plan should be put together to your ezine. Whatever marketing strategy you go for, you will should think about these things, maybe not for each issue but rather for the company as a whole. What use will you make of non-traditional media? How are you dealing with advertising? Contemporary techniques mean considering search engine necessities when editing content. Something else to think about is how you’ll be dealing with previous issues. What will the availability of this publication be? If it’ll be widely available, then try hosting it with the vendor. What are your plans to publicize this digital publication? Some solutions need to be thought about in advance before having an emergency. How is their tech support? What quality is their FAQ page? Also check any how-to guide they may have. If their response time isn’t mentioned this should raise questions. Do they have 24 hour support? Tech-support’s importance cannot be over-stated. You certainly don’t want to find out only after the event that they’re actually trying to cut corners at your expense in this regard! The decision you make here will be what determines how well your magazine does - think carefully before picking out your vendor. You may also want to Google the terms “create online publication” for more ideas.

Dignity Beyond Persecution, Honorable Roger Toussaint, Rebirth Of Marcus Garvey

In this format of a communists Society; Toussaint a man who is persecuted for protesting against slave wages, in the principalities of life, and dictated and gagged by the order, he shall not speak, to be summoned in the words of blind justice, that he shall not go against the laws made by the dictators, he may not speak; In this life one must sometimes loose to win stripped of his rights to defend his cause, in the prosperity of a subtonic Presentation of summary in the oppositions, To do are to dye, to dye are to live, Evaluations of power that sanctions the rights of dignity, beyond persecution, Mastery of Self. Man of integrity the minister of spirit. Finding of principal, might of power, in a order of thieves that set before the table, A black man under all odds stood tall, and the warriors of principals that stood before him, a thief has no loyalty to color, only by his on proclamation of order, nevertheless man feels that what dose not effect him , will not effect another, but in the rules of life, a thief only has loyalty to self, the poor shall be the one to suffer, Bluntly called thieves, in the media of persecution, A black man who stood again before the cross of persecution, who speaks for the soldiers, who stand for freedom of life, when the dictators presented his fate jail him, he has over stepped his mean, to tell the dictators, I am a man which is due to all men. Meekness, simple laws of loving self; the hero or the coward saving self; The soul that dies a thousand times, when the soul of will would die once. Wave the Flag Black man, Wave the Flag, Black and White stand together, Brothers and Sisters hand and hand; I thought once how my ancestors Sing the sweet songs, of love The souls that march upon the clouds, And the sound of the ancient drums, Humble the elders that carry the cross to carry the crown to place upon the warriors heads. The soldiers begins to beat the drums And the spirits rise upon the clouds, as I sing the Nubian anthem the ancestors who brought me cross.

Through the struggles of a diversity, the constitution Blackness was won, nevertheless the scars Continue to bond after the glory was won. In this mean less area of time, the image has stood the abomination of heroic bureaucracy the soldier who waved the banner, the battle of a lost generalized consumption of spineless association that brittles the thoughts of unity.

But while the image has stood the test of time, soldiery of confinement the soul has no strength of its own, what dose it takes for the image of a king, to stand up and claim his rightful place? Crying that the soul is governed by another, who has know power only if the mind allows, the glory came, and the definition of warrior has declined, the politics that led to that moment has been cast aside by cowardly conformity, if man who lives through another mans eyes of a hopeless survival, and the brother the savior who has given his life, that his brothers should walk the red carpet, the king that lied upon the cross, to give a devil greater power that has know control only if the mind gives it freely, Assassins of the abomination, and the treason of the glory, confinements of genocide amnesia; particularly known, as wisdom and spirituality, the by laws of God, the rainbow reflects the cries of the soul, the dead roots which continues to dye slowly, Helpless when the water sits upon the door, Roots that refuse to save self.

If I must go down; a warrior of strength, Toussaint stands tall, he walk with dignity as he face the media of a lynch man rope, don’t be the one to pull, when the marksman steal your freedom, and laughs behind the back door, in title the submissive slave, In my observation of warrior, his words cry from the eyes of a true soldier, the rebirth of the warriors of freedom, freedom is not free, and a warrior will not bow down, honor my brother of the Caribbean land, A true Soldier is not a man unless he shedder of his blood, he walks with dignity, and the spirit of his souls speaks, let not my hierology speak of weakness, I will walk on the battlefield alone, as a man if I must, what is life if you can’t subside under the lynch men rope, He stands tall my black brother shall not go out In a cowardly conformity, he stood tall and took the burning bullet that man set before him, I shall die with dignity; Let not my horology speak of weakness I shall walk on the battlefield as a man what is life if I can’t die like a man. Every man must die, so If I; I choose it as a man. A coward dies a thousand times but a brave man dies once. I shall not go out in a cowardly conformity; I shall stand tall if I must. Take the burning bullet, which sets before my death. No one recognize the warriors, because many have never fought a war, only wisdom brings calm to the pain, nevertheless the dead soul has know compassion only to self, Oh what a bitter taste of brim, but the spirit of God walks I have fought for a cause; lies upon the dark; the inner man shall not awaken from the dark, the bite of the bullet is much to hot, the valley is closing in as I take a deep breath, the warrior is not a warrior; until he has shredded blood, words are a hopeless survival if the unite is divided, we shall all fall at once, under the emancipation of slaves, who continue to use the black race through the fire.

I shall dye nobly as my brother Jesus who lay upon the cross, if we must die, I shall take your hand; And we shall look upon the skies, as you my brother, As I ; we shall go at one time. Let not thee suffer, take the last breath, that I Shall march through the skies; There shall be no tears, I the soldier of God, Their shall be no pleading, I shall carry the cross; as my brother upon the skies, so I shall give back to thy brother who died for me. Grave that lies upon my trust; I shall not die, as the murders that stand Before me, when you speak of my death, you shall never remember a beginning plea; My body is just a carcass; but my spirit shall fly free life, beware of the walking dead, I shall not bow over.

But the tears that shall flow from my mothers eyes, It’s not the coldness of my brother, Who kill me because he feels that he can, Dark as the night that the blood runs From the leaded bullets upon my chest. Know man knows the battle of war until he has bit the bullet of death; It is not the horror that sets before me, However, the image a King you may believe in hope he has died, in those terrifying screams of death around us that remind me; another tribe castrated through the mind has passed on. Plunge in a black body bag, another one out the way; The hidden darkness that surface the face of a snake, Never realizing death for death, nevertheless one might Live upon the earth, and one whom moved on to a better place. The wind, the storm, the sun, waves fare well, it is not the satisfied look in my brothers eyes, he have Killed his brother in degradation of racial hate, no sympathy that he express, The devils children have struck again, oh what a bitter Spaceman of a dead mind, who cannot control, the Leaded bullet of death, which rises upon the mid night Horror that lye upon my chest, the screams of thy mother They have killed my son. The rose have cuddled in a fetal position I shall never forget, the pain of thy birth, She have know position her self to the same event those steady and merciless black fingers, Oh but the devils who planed my death, there is a greater power than he, I will meet you on the other side when you feel that you have castrated me of my manhood, be still serpent of Satan, the lord will speak, and when he do, you will see the power you thought you had.

Oh the hand on the trigger, know mercy, upon the beaded eyes of death, holding the darkness, that seeks my death; hell gaze me in the eyes, as the assassins plan my death, I have moved on, but unto I shall leave, I shall return. I shall live within the mind of; The assassins who stood before my death, If thy take thy life, thy take ones own, for and Eye, tooth for a tooth, I shall return, I take my journey on the Black train who slowly drives upon my Space, the black smoke that spreads upon your house of shame, I walk as a black man, speak as a black, and I shall rule as a black man on the other side of my fathers house.

The people has no say, children stolen and sold, without freedom of defense, every child worth 500,000 in grants, 18, 000 children in foster care, freedom taken away from the parents in control of their young, parents locked up when the child refuse to go to school, nevertheless parents are sanctions when they discipline their young, Children are told to call authorities on the parents who give them life, to do or to dye, to dye are to live, wake up people, today the Blackman tomorrow the multi color rainbow, freedom know longer stands in this place call the land of the free.

Remarks By Roger Toussaint

With a $1 billion surplus, this contract between the M.T.A. and the Transport Workers Union should have been a no-brainer. Sadly, that has not been the case. Our contract expired on Thursday at midnight. In an attempt to save mass transit, and in deference to our riders, we postponed our deadline and attempted to continue talking to the M.T.A. From the beginning, the M.T.A. approached these negotiations in bad faith, demanding arbitration even before trying to resolve the contract. Hours before the contract expiration, the M.T.A. got rid of its $1 billion surplus — a surplus which we believe continues to be understated by some $100 million. The M.T.A. knew that attempting to reduce health and pension standards at the authority would be unacceptable to our union. They also knew that there was no good economic reason for their hard line on this issue — not with a $1 billion surplus — but they went ahead anyway. And they did this supported by the Bloomberg administration, which wants to overrun the municipal labor unions and all city workers and impose down-press wages and gutted health benefits and pension plans. This has been combined with attempts by the M.T.A., joined by the mayor and the governor, to intimidate and threaten our members and their families.

The Local 100 executive board has voted overwhelmingly to extend strike action to all M.T.A. properties immediately. All Local 100 representatives and shop stewards are directed to report to their assigned strike locations, picket lines or assigned locations nearest you immediately. To our riders, we ask for your understanding and forbearance. We stood with you to keep token booths open, to keep conductors on the trains, to oppose fare hikes. We now ask that you stand with us. We did not want a strike, but evidently the M.T.A., the governor and the mayor did. We call on all good-willed New Yorkers, the labor community, and all working people to recognize that our strike is their fight and to rally in our support with activities and events in solidarity, and to show the M.T.A. the T.W.U. does not stand alone.

Retail Margin, Trade Discount, & What it Means for the Author

Friday, May 8th, 2009

DEFINITIONS

Retail margin is basically the difference between your book’s wholesale price and your book’s retail price. For example, a book with a cover price of $10 and a wholesale price of $5 has a 50% retail margin.

Wholesale price is the cost of your book to a retailer. To use the same rudimentary example, a book with a cover price of $10 and a retail margin of 50% will be sold to a retailer for $5.

Retail price is the same as cover price or selling price. This is the cost of the book to the end consumer (the reader). The retail price is typically printed on the cover of the book and also “embedded” within the barcode on the back. For example, a book with a wholesale price of $5 and a retail margin of 50% will have a retail price of $10.

As you can see, retail margin, wholesale price, and retail price are interconnected. By having two figures, the third can be calculated.

The fourth definition to be aware of is the trade discount, which is the percentage off the retail price that a wholesaler or distributor pays for your book. Since the retail margin is a portion of the trade discount, the trade discount always exceeds the retail margin. Distributors typically expect between 50% - 70% in order to provide an acceptable margin to the retailer.

MAKING DISTRIBUTION WORK FOR YOU

It should come as no surprise that the amount of distribution your book enjoys rests largely upon its trade discount. Generally, the higher the discount, the greater the distribution.

Think about it - distributors want to make money, too. So do retailers.

While your book’s trade discount is but a piece of your pie (albeit a big piece), it is the entire cake for distributors and retailers, who together must split the take. The greater the number, the greater incentive they have to distribute your book, sell your book, and market your book, etc.

The proper trade discount depends upon each author’s intentions, and can vary from author to author just as readily as from book to book. Obviously, the higher the retail margin, the higher the cover price, so authors interested in maintaining the lowest cover price possible will often opt for a lower retail margin.

Conversely, those authors who long for the best distribution possible will elect a higher trade discount, even though their cover price will increase accordingly (or their profit will decrease accordingly). Non-fiction or niche-markets are less affected by higher retail prices and greater distribution is often advantageous in finding those markets.

Often, the author will have little to no say in what trade discount to offer for their books — its whatever the distributor mandates.

Trade discounts can be as low as 20% to successfully get listed on Internet retailers like Amazon.com, who manage to make a profit with such low margins through EDI (electronic data interface) with distributors like Ingram and on-demand publishers like iUniverse and Outskirts Press.

By comparison, trade discounts can be as high as 75% - 80% when dealing with a niche wholesaler, or when attempting distribution for a book that does not have a proven market. In these cases, the distributor may be padding the coffers a bit in anticipation for a “harder sell” and perhaps, also, in preparation for offering an increased retail margin to close the deal.

INDUSTRY STANDARDS

Industry standards for retail margins are difficult to define because, ultimately, it comes down to negotiation between all parties involved. Publishers have the power to negotiate with distributors, who have the power to negotiate with retailers, who have the ability to negotiate with the reader, but the typical trade discount is around 55%, which allows for a typical retail margin of 40%.

Publishing-on-demand is removing some of the participants in this little dance, and as a result, the same piece of pie is being divided among fewer people, resulting in more money for the remaining players (especially the author).

Best-Selling Author Reveals His Secret To Writing Every Day

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Some people find it easy to work their way into routines, like the exercise brigade that sports the bratty bumper sticker: “Just Do It!”

Well, if you’re a creative person, it’s easier said, than done.

For one thing, creatives are creatures of inspiration as much as perspiration.

I sat down, for instance, wanting to write this piece; nobody forced me, and I certainly didn’t undertake it because I scheduled it on a To-Do list or because I wrote it into my calendar.

Yet, it would be nice to accomplish more, and to write more consistently.

You’ve heard the adage that real writers write every day. How do they do it?

I suppose some schedule it, sequester themselves into a room, and don’t emerge before they’ve crafted that one page of the novel they’re working on and hope to finish in two years.

I’ve found something else works better.

Instead of dragging my laptop everywhere, though I did write a few books at coffee shops that way, I simply carry a spiral pad.

It accompanies me to the car wash, to venues with waiting rooms, such as doctors’ offices, and even to social lunches and dinners.

Inspiration happens everywhere, you know this, but capitalizing on it, catching those elusive thoughts before they’re forgotten; that’s a trick!

With a pad and a pen, you can easily write something every day, and I’ll wager that you will.

By the way, by writing, literally, I mean putting pen to paper and placing words into your tablet. Your output at any given second doesn’t have to be perfect or even coherent or lengthy.

Yesterday, I was driving and one of my passengers said something exceptionally insightful. I reached behind me, and risking everyone’s life, I jotted down his eloquent phrase.

That’s writing!

I did turn it into an article later that evening, one that I’m pleased with.

If you want to write every day, make it easy and pleasant and convenient.

Grab that pad and pen!

Speech Fumble Recovery

Monday, May 4th, 2009

“What makes something a sound bite? What makes some of your words quotable to a reporter whereas most of you words are not?”

These are questions I toss out during speeches or training sessions to people. Normally, attendees toss out things like the following:

“It has to be short.”

“Something catchy.”

“Controversy.”

I then engage the audience further by asking more follow up questions. Then I give them a matrix for analyzing and creating sound bites.

But sometimes, I am met with blank stares. Uh-oh! This is embarrassingor it least it could be, if you let it.

What I do is to pause for a moment, and then treat my very real question as if I had asked it as a rhetorical question. Then I answer it myself.

Sometimes audiences like to participate, sometimes they don’t. And sometimes they just don’t know what to say. The trick is to not let an audiences reactions or non-reactions get you down.

So if your audience ever leaves you hanging at the end of a question, don’t let it get you down. Act as though you fully intended to ask it rhetorically and that you are more than pleased to answer it yourself. So don’t get scared or give up just relax and recover quickly from your mistake without anyone even noticing.

A Mode of Transportation

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Great writing transports one vicariously to realms that the reader would not otherwise experience.

One of these areas is physical: ancient, modern, or futuristic. A great writer can bring the past into the present and make the reader experience the culture, the locale, the people of the time. Jean Auel’s great novels come to mind.

Another region is the pschological realm: Again great writing conveys us into the minds of characters giving us a better understanding of our motives, our passions, our wants, and our needs. Crime and Punishment is a good example.

Then there is the sociological realm where great writing gets the reader involved in the world of crime, or romance, or poverty, or wealth, and many other social situations, problems and solutions. Charles Dickens was such a writer.

The cultural region is another area where great writing has an impact, particularly authors from other ethnicities that help us to understand the mores and viewpoints that are different.

Finally we enter the political sphere. Here again, great writing points out the good and bad of different ideologies, political parties, governments. It introduces us to the search for power and influence, the good and the bad, the acceptable and the unacceptable.

Great writing occurs in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc. Great writers abound, and each reader has his or her favorite.

Writing Well for the Web

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Reading the screen differs from reading the printed sources. It may hurt the pride of online writers, but users seldom take pains to read their works attentively. As a rule, the users just scan text looking for the key words or phrases. The research of the five most popular writing styles at Sun Microsystems laboratory showed that the usability of an average web site increases by 53% if the text is brief and concise; by 27% - if the text is easy to scan, by 47% if the text is written in “informative” style and is not another piece of blunt advertising. The results prompt the web writers what text they should produce to be read. Another issue is how to produce it. This article gives several helpful recommendations in this direction.

First, remember five simple rules: present information in logical blocks; use clear and commonly-used words; write little, but to the point; give special attention to the first phrases of the paragraphs; allocate a separate paragraph to every new idea. Second, be cautious with humor. It is a tricky thing. People have a different sense of humor and that is why in every particular case a writer should have a clear idea what people make up the site’s audience. Knowing your target audience will help you to include relevant jokes and tell the story in the appropriate style. Surely it is not easy, as people of different ages, nationalities, religion etc visit your site. Sometimes it is risky to include puns in the text as the foreign users may not be able to understand them at all. Third, the text should be easy to scan. To save the search time, at first users just scan the text, but don’t read it as a whole. Scanning can be facilitated with headings, lists, hyperlinks in the text, graphics, italicized words, and main sentences, as well as list of contents. Users need to find and get the information quickly.

They have no time for verbose digressions. That is why the shorter text the better. You should come to the point from the first sentences of your text. According to the research many users like when contents or some kind of annotation precede the text. It is more convenient for them first to get acquainted with the contents and then to choose the necessary items and read them more thoroughly. Present news in the style of “inverted pyramid”. At first you present the news with conclusions, and then come the details. Such approach allows to get the necessary information immediately and captures the readers’ attention. Text and graphics make up a strong and efficient combination but only if they influence the reader’s perception in synchrony. Graphics that adds nothing to the text just diverts the reader’s attention.

Online Article Submission Sites Should List Article Views

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Why is it that most all online article submission sites do not display the number of article views of each author? Well it is simple from a marketing standpoint, as most do not dare as someone might see how dismal their results really are. Of course if you are a category killer, then certainly you would be smart to do this.

The largest online article submission website on the Internet recently started to include this data and I think it is really cool to see and compare for the authors. And as far as article views, perhaps what is more important is how often one’s articles are picked up around the internet and used for ezine newsletters.

For instance I only have 1.30 Million article views, but I have 21,000 ezine publisher captures so my true article views around the internet could be more like 10 million. And if other top authors who may have a niche which is so specific perhaps they may not have such a high number of article views, they would still be substantial for them and are probably super in that they peg the exact type of reader he intends to reach.

So if an author has over 100K article views and his articles are also all over the Internet, because they are great articles, then he could well be looking at a multiple of 10 or 1 million plus. Indeed this online article submission venue format that Ezinearticles has created and produced is exceptional in so many ways. Consider this in 2006.

Idea Catcher

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Every writer has to cope with dry periods. The creative mind has to be in a receptive mood before a piece of writing can be initiated. My favorite method to break the stalemate is to talk to strangers or friends, introducing various topics and promoting discussions. Every experience I have had in life can be matched by memories of another person. It is the different perspective that lends truth to a story and triggers the writing process. The more people you contact whom are willing to rap about their experiences, the more fodder you will get for your writing.

If your conversation partner absolutely disagrees with your personal opinions, you can write about the different sides of an argument. If they have had similar experiences to yours, you can write about serendipity or expand on the topic with refreshed ammunition. It always surprises me when I discover a stranger’s take on a situation, priorities that differ widely and results that stretch the imagination.

An empathetic attitude is helpful when drawing out personal experiences from a virtual stranger. No-one likes to be in the wrong or made to feel that they made a bad decision in life. Sympathetic noises fuel the conversation and prompt deeper revelations than otherwise likely. I have found that most conversations of this sort have opened up new vistas in my thinking and have even spurred me to higher levels of enlightened thought.

Just a newbie writer.
